Grade 4 Rounding Worksheets & Practice

Rounding gives a nearby number that is easier to work with. Discover the strategy, try a few examples, and choose a free printable level.

What your learner will practice

Multi-step thinking. Fourth graders practice larger numbers, fractions, decimals and multi-step reasoning. Encourage estimation as a way to check answers.

With rounding in Grade 4, the goal is to build understanding and to explain the method, not just get a number. Take breaks and repeat short sessions when needed.

How to solve rounding problems

  1. 1Identify the place you are rounding to.
  2. 2Look at the digit immediately to the right.
  3. 3If that digit is 5 or more, round up; otherwise keep the target digit.
Common mistake to watch for

Remember to replace all smaller place values with zeros.
